Product description
Historically accurate leather strap crafted to original examples from the Italian and German navies of the 1940s.
Reborn Fletch 1:1 Replicated True Vintage Strap Series
The “Fletch” straps are made entirely by hand – using authentic craftsmanship techniques, 1:1 reconstructed from a historical original reference. The leather is tanned in a special process using natural oils, creating an exceptionally high fat content of 29% (by comparison: conventionally tanned leather is around 10–12%).
The result: a strap that, despite its thickness, remains supple, flexible, and water-repellent – ideal for daily use and extreme conditions.
These straps come from the historic Corrigia Vintage series and are made exactly as shown in the product photos. They are authentic vintage straps with historically faithful folding and stitching techniques.
Depending on the variant, the straps are offered with a sewn-in buckle or without a sewn-in buckle. In variants with a sewn-in buckle, strap and buckle are permanently connected. They belong together – structurally, functionally, and historically. Like a marriage: once joined, united forever.
Dimensions
- Lug widths: 24 mm or 26 mm
- Standard length: 130 / 80 mm (approx. 16–18 cm)
- Historical XXL length: 150 / 90 mm (approx. 19–22 cm)
- Extra length historically correct & intentionally designed
- Suitable for all 44mm, 47mm, and 48mm watches
Historical folding techniques we use
- Triple-Fold (1950s): 3-fold short side, 4-fold inner sandwich fold long side
- 2533 technique (1930s): 3.5-fold inner fold-over technique with inserts
- 3646 technique (1940s): voluminous 3.5-fold inner fold-over technique
Installation & behavior
- Solid construction at the lug (≥ approx. 2.5 mm leather thickness)
- First installation intentionally tighter
- Recommendation: first installation without tubes
- Leather adapts to the case after a short wearing period
- Use stainless-steel tubes only after approx. 2 weeks
Manufacture & finish
- Completely hand-stitched
- Antique Serafil sewing thread (approx. 1960–1970)
- Hand-sanded & hand-polished
🧱 Material logic & historical construction
We are very reluctant to split leather in order to preserve the material’s natural structure, density, and stability. That is why, in our historical folding techniques, we follow a clear artisanal logic:
-
🪵If the base leather is thicker than approx. 2.0 mm, we completely forgo additional inserts. The leather is processed as full, unsplit material and brought to the desired strap thickness solely through the historical folding technique.
-
🧩If the outer leather is thinner than approx. 1.9 mm, a suitable leather insert is used. The thickness of the insert is always added to the thickness of the outer leather to achieve a historically correct overall thickness.
-
✋Which method is used is decided during production, depending on the respective leather and its natural structure.
-
🕰Both approaches are historically correct and were already used on originals from the 1930s to the 1960s.
-
📏The goal is always the same: an authentic, substantial overall strap thickness of approx. 5–6 mm, as was common for original military vintage straps.
