NATO Zulu Leather Strap – suitable for all watch models
The NATO-Zulu strap is entirely handcrafted from a single piece of leather . It is deliberately not a multi-layered or glued mass-produced strap, but rather a meticulously crafted, one-piece construction offering significantly greater stability and durability.
The Corrigia buckle is securely sewn in and structurally an integral part of the strap. All three rings are already installed and permanently stitched in place.
Especially with NATO straps, the tensile strength of the material is crucial, as the entire tensile force is transmitted directly through the strap under load. Natural leather – depending on the tanning process and fiber structure – possesses a high tensile strength, typically in the range of several tens of megapascals (MPa) .
However, when leather is glued or constructed from multiple layers, the natural fiber structure is disrupted. The tensile forces then no longer act evenly on the material, but concentrate at the glued joints – which reduces its effective load-bearing capacity.
For this reason, we consistently manufacture our NATO Zulu straps from a single piece of leather and completely avoid using adhesives. This ensures that the entire tensile force is absorbed directly by the organic fiber structure of the leather – precisely where leather is structurally strongest.
