Dimensions

  • Lug widths: configurable from 20 mm to 28 mm
  • XS: long side 110 mm / short side 60 mm (approx. wrist circumference 14–15 cm)
  • Short length: long side 120 mm / short side 70 mm (approx. wrist circumference 15–16 cm)
  • Standard length: long side 130 mm / short side 80 mm (approx. wrist circumference 16–17 cm)
  • Standard length: long side 140 mm / short side 80 mm (approx. wrist circumference 17–18 cm)
  • Historical XXL length: long side 150 mm / short side 90 mm (approx. wrist circumference 19–22 cm)
  • Historical XXL length: long side 165 mm / short side 105 mm (approx. wrist circumference 22–24 cm)
  • Note: A slight extra length is historically correct and deliberately intended.

Folding techniques we use

  • True-Vintage-Triple-Fold (1950s): 3-fold short side, 4-fold inner sandwich fold long side
  • True-Vintage-2533 technique (1930s): 3.5-fold inner fold technique with inserts
  • True-Vintage-3646 technique (1940s): voluminous 3.5-fold inner fold technique
  • OEM-Style technique: The OEM-Style folding technique is the standard classic folding method used on the market and ensures a low material thickness at the lug. The strap runs straight and remains slim at the lug. This makes it compatible with almost all common watch models. Stainless-steel tubes are fitted for 24 mm and 26 mm lug widths. The tubes are not glued, but tension-held and can be pushed out with a pointed object if needed.

Leather thickness Fitting & behaviour with OEM-Style technique

  • Standard build at the lug (≥ approx. 1.5 mm leather thickness)
  • First fitting very easy
  • Lug width 24-28 mm: leather thickness approx. 4 mm
  • Lug width 22-23 mm: leather thickness approx. 3 mm
  • Lug width 20-22 mm: leather thickness approx. 2 mm

Leather thickness Fitting & behaviour with True-Vintage technique

  • Solid build at the lug (≥ approx. 2.5 mm leather thickness)
  • First fitting deliberately tighter
  • Recommendation: first fitting without tubes
  • Leather adapts to the case after a short wearing time
  • Use stainless-steel tubes only after approx. 2 weeks
  • Lug width 24-28 mm: leather thickness approx. 5-6 mm
  • Lug width 22-23 mm: leather thickness approx. 3-4 mm
  • Lug width 20-22 mm: leather thickness approx. 2-3 mm

Production, finish & punching

  • Completely hand-stitched. Hand-sanded & hand-polished
  • Antique Serafil sewing thread (approx. 1960–1970)
  • Depending on configuration with stitched-in buckle or without stitched-in buckle. For variants with a stitched-in buckle, strap and buckle are permanently connected. They belong together - structurally, functionally, and historically. When ordering with a stitched-in buckle, we automatically adjust the hole position for the best possible fit.
  • If the strap is ordered without buckle, we punch rectangular holes, suitable for screwed OEM buckles.
  • The position of the first hole can be specified in the comment field. If not specified, we punch the first hole as standard at 55 mm from the lug. The hole spacing is 7 mm (centre to centre). Please state any different requests in the comment field.

Leather lining of the watch strap

  • As a leather lining we use genuine suede leather in the colour selected in the configurator. Implementation only takes place if the respective construction and material thickness allow it.

🧱 Material logic & historical construction

We are very reluctant to split leather in order to preserve the material’s natural structure, density, and stability. That is why we follow a clear artisanal logic in our historical folding techniques:

  • 🪵
If the base leather is thicker than approx. 2.0 mm, we completely refrain from additional inserts. The leather is processed as a full, unsplit material and brought to the desired strap thickness exclusively through the historical folding technique.
  • 🧩
If the outer leather is thinner than approx. 1.9 mm, a suitable leather insert is used. The thickness of the insert is always added to the thickness of the outer leather to achieve a historically correct overall thickness.
  • Which method is used is decided during production, depending on the respective leather and its natural structure.
  • 🕰
Both approaches are historically correct and were already used on originals from the 1930s to the 1960s.
  • 📏
The goal is always the same: an authentic, solid overall strap thickness of approx. 5–6 mm, as was common for original military vintage straps.
